The Athens General Hospital Hippocrates visited the Prime Minister in the morning, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. In the “Hippocrates”, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s press office, extensive infrastructure upgrades are underway, with the renovation of the emergency department, which is converted into high -quality Emergency Medical Care Center in Attica.
Mr Mitsotakis toured the TEP premises and was informed of the progress of the work, which is being carried out in phases so as not to influence the provision of services to citizens, which are expected to be completed in September.
The renovated section will cover an area of 990 square metersgreater by 282 sq.m. Compared to the existing structure, and will house services to welcome and care for a wide range of incidents.
Among other things, in the new ICT will operate modern patient sorting for their immediate evaluation, rejuvenation room For cases where life is in danger of being hospitalized, walking clinic For milder incidents, single that will cover many specialties, disinfectant and isolation of infectious patients; Small Biochemical Laboratory and Short Hospital If a patient is needed shortly.

The upgrading of the ICT, funded by the recovery fund, is part of a network of interventions aimed at both the strengthening of the Hippocrates with staff and the modernization of its facilities and equipment.
The hospital’s budget in 2024 amounted to € 94 million, up 87.9% compared to 2019, while medical staff has increased by 16% in the same period.
In the same context, projects are also being implemented to upgrade the hospital’s building complex, with NSRF resources, with a total budget of € 4.96 million, which are expected to be completed at the end of the year.
