A two -day experiential actions Dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and the coexistence of human-nature, the environmental organization Callisto organizes in Aspropotamos. The purpose of these events, which are part of the European Life Bear-Smart Corridors program and the smart coexistence community with the bear is to highlight its importance social acceptance of the brown bear Through activities that bring young and old alike in contact with nature, place and local communities.

Hiking and contact with nature

On Saturday, September 13th, in collaboration with the Trikala Mountaineering Association, it will take place. Hiking on the “Trail of Coexist”a route passing through areas where they thrive native, fruit trees such as helmetapple trees, cormilies and other local species. This activity offers visitors and residents the opportunity to get to know the natural environment which is also a brown bear habitat.

Hellenic Celebration and Innovative Manufacturing

On Sunday, the actions are transferred to Krania Aspropotamos, with the support of the Cultural Association of Krania. In the context of established ‘Hellenic Celebration’a collection of fruit from the village trees will be carried out. This initiative highlights the importance of early harvest: “Observed fruits are often an attraction for bears, increasing the risk of being close to residential areas.”. Under the guidance of local chefs, harvested fruits will be processed to products ‘Bear friendly’ – Like jams, syrups and juices – which will be distributed to visitors, wanting to show the connection between local production and practices that protect wildlife.

All actions are open to the public With free participation, inviting locals and visitors to help maintain the balance between man and nature.
