A massive rally took place today in the Tempe Constitution following a call from the president of the Tempe 2023 affected club, Maria Karystianou, on the occasion of the completion of the investigative process for the multiple railway accident.
With the central slogan of “justice” crowds began gathering at 19:00 in Syntagma Square calling for justice for Tempi.
Ms Karystianou in a statement to the media before the start of the speeches stressed that they were gathered today “in squares everywhere around the world to shout that the truth cannot be hidden forever that they cannot play with our minds with our souls”. As he said, “Justice must be attributed to every crime, to every person who has been wronged. This is its destination. That’s why it was created. “
“So we gathered here today a week after the interrogator’s inconceivable and illegal move to close a 2.5 -year -old case without having the basic answers and above all what our children burned. For us who have to endure the rest of our lives in this pain the least is to know what has happened, “he said.
Subsequently, speeches were followed by relatives of the victims of Tempi, while 57 seconds of silence were observed for the memory of the victims, followed by an invitation to the dead.
In her speech, Mrs Karystianou thanked the concentrated “from the heart” who, as she said, “You have gathered with us to become a hug, a voice again, to claim justice and to talk about Greece that deserves.”
“You understand that the crime in Tempi is not just 56 families.
But it concerns all society because each of us who are in the squares and on the streets today could be a passenger on that fateful route. The right to safely move by any public media is the obligation of the state and has been paid with our taxes. The same goes for the inalienable right of every citizen living in a democratic country to experience true justice. Be sure that everyone is equal to the law, without rinsing responsibility for politicians who through immunity will escape and continue crimes against all of us. So we took to the streets to say that immunity and irresponsibility are contrary to real democracy and incompatible with the interests of our society, “Mrs Karystianou said at the start of her speech.
A few minutes after the episodes were completed, there were episodes at Syntagma Square when a group of people threw Molotov cocktails with the police forces responding by using chemicals.
It is noted that similar rallies were also held in other cities across the country.
