An alarm has been sounded in the Libyan Port for the new wave of refugee flows from Crete and Gavdos in recent hours.
Only today, in the early morning, more than 275 people were rescued within a few hours south of Gavdos, with search and rescue operations in the maritime area escalating and the Single Research and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED) on a full alert.
According to cretapost.gr, more than 300 people are on the south of Gavdos.
On Sunday afternoon, a Frontex ship ship found two boats with 166 foreign occupants. Of these, 49 were transported by boat from Frontex to the island of Gavdos, while the remaining 117 were taken to the port of Sfakia.
Earlier in the morning there were two more large businesses preceded.
In the first phase, a ship from Frontex found a boat with 71 immigrants, who were transported to the port of Sfakia. Shortly before, a patrol of the Coast Guard had also rescued 38 people southwest of the island.
It is recalled that over 250 people reached the island yesterday, while 277 immigrants were rescued on Friday.
At the same time, according to ERT Chania’s information, more than 450 immigrants stayed overnight in Gavdos yesterday, and from this morning their gradual transfer to Sfakion Chora and from there to the exhibition area of ​​Agia in Chania, where 561 immigrants are already currently.
It is noteworthy that in Agia there is the inseparable and according to the announcement- a letter from the Port Authority Workers’ Association “the conditions are dangerous and unacceptable”.
