To a significant cleaning business The Municipality of Chania proceeded in its historic area Therrianwith municipal workshops removing more than 5 tonnes of waste. This action is part of a broader effort to restore and protect the natural environment, especially in areas that were left neglected for a long time.

OR Cleaning service of the Municipality of Chania carried out deforestation, collection of waste and fractured materials mainly along the river crossing the village. Particular challenge was access to inaccessible points, where massive objects as well as various branches were found.

Intervention to protect the natural and historical landscape

On the occasion of this action, the Deputy Mayor of Environment and Cleanliness, Michalis Tsoupakis, stressed that “Therisso is a historic place with unique beauty, worthy of highlighting but also protected”. He pointed out that during the operation, the workshops collected all sorts of rubbish – including dead animals – mainly in the area around the river.

“Let’s take care of the area and the natural beauty of the landscape“, Mr. Tsoupakis said, noting that from the municipality side, this effort is constant and targeted, with no corner of the area left without care. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Municipal Authority to upgrade the environment to the communities of the Municipality of Chania.
