The Hellenic Parliament honored for their invaluable contribution to the fellow man, the volunteer bone marrow donors, with today’s lighting of its facade, in the colors of the Vision of Hope Association.
According to a related announcement by the House, the illumination was made on the occasion of World Bone Marrow Donor Day, which has been established to be celebrated every third Saturday of September.
“This day is an opportunity for a gratitude to the donor who gives life to an unknown or relative, young child or adult, suffering from blood cancer or other hematological diseases and seeks a ray of hope in his difficult path,” he said in the same statement.
The Hellenic Parliament, in practice, in practice, in support of every initiative to strengthen the social supply that saves lives, is actively involved in the actions of the “Vision of Hope” Association with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance of voluntary blood cell donation.
Recently, in the voluntary blood donation organized by the Parliament’s Employees’ Association, several workers were informed and then responded strongly to the call to make bone marrow donors themselves.
It is also emphasized that the creation of large “national tanks” is crucial in finding compatible donors who will give life to our sick people. Greece has a limited “tank” of volunteer donors and therefore finds it difficult to meet the needs of its patients.
In total, to date, the “Vision of Hope” Association has recorded 189,000 volunteer donors, of which 477 have already been found compatible and offering a graft. The Association has 241 cooperating centers throughout Greece that spread the message and contribute to the effort. It has set as a new goal to reach 300,000 volunteer donors in order to solve the problem of finding grafts in our country.
