Mobile “bombs” are circulating on Greek roads: today it is estimated that nearly 1 in 3 vehicles have not passed by technical inspection in the KTEOs, which makes them dangerous to possible accidents. Through a special platform of the Ministry of Digital Governance and the HRAD, extensive electronic intersections are carried out on all vehicles, with the relevant checks being repeated every six months.
This procedure aims to identify vehicles that are currently moving to the roads without being passed by KTEO or are uninsured or their owners have not paid for traffic charges. The data so far show that out of about 8.5 million vehicles, 450,000 do not fall under the obligation of KTEOs, 5 million are displayed in the relevant registries and therefore have gone through the procedure and there is a balance of almost 3 million.
Which fines are imposed on a case -by -case basis
Under the new Road Traffic Code, the KTEO fine in case of a check by the Police for IEE, light trucks and motorcycles is provided on 150 euros and Removal of license and registration plates for 15 days. For heavy vehicles, sanctions amount to 350 euros and 30 days, respectively.
Owners of vehicles identified through intersections have not gone through KTEOs will receive notices and will also be required to pay “bitter” fines.
However, the exact number of vehicles that have not passed by KTEO is expected to be exported by the completion of the “aggregates”, that is, vehicles for which they are not cumulative in their last 7 years in the technical inspection of KTEO, in insurance and payment fees.
It is estimated that on Greek roads they are almost circulating 700,000 “ghost” vehiclesthat is, vehicles that do not appear .. nowhere!
It should be noted that against the backdrop of the extensive intersections, the definition of inactive vehicles are introduced for the first time: vehicles that have no traces in the last 7 years for KTEO – SAFETY – EVEN, will be temporary still and are considered out -of -traffic vehicles.
Big Brother even on … tolls
But beyond the extensive intersections, the state is preparing to add other weapons to its “quiver” to identify vehicles that have not passed through KTEO and not only. One of these moves concerns the supply of special cameras that will “incorporate” algorithm and which will be placed Even in … tolls!
Each time a vehicle passes through them it will be recorded whole the ‘historicalThat is, if he is consistent in his obligations.
This practice is expected to adopted within 2026 overturning the data to date.
This “weapon” comes to be added to the extensive electronic intersections already conducted by the General Secretariat for Information Systems and Digital Government. The system utilizes data from AADE, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the GIS, and the Association of Insurance Companies of Greece.
