Two cases of theft of two agricultural vehicles in areas of the Municipality of Heraklion and one case of animal theft, in which one of the stolen vehicles was used, were investigated by the Heraklion Crime Investigation and Prosecution Directorate. A case file was filed against a 34-year-old man, who is accused of distinguished cases of theft and violations of animal theft legislation.

As it emerged from the police investigation, on 10.04.2025 the 34-year-old man together with an unknown person stole a domestic farm car, which, following searches, was located in a rural area, while on 19.09.2025 again together with a so far unknown perpetrator, using an ICHE car, they stole another farm car. In fact, the vehicle they stole, they then used to commit the theft of 22 sheep and goats from a sheepfold. The vehicle was found abandoned in the area of ​​Malevizi Municipality.

According to the police, today, officers from the Sub-Directorate for Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Heraklion and the Department of Police Operations of Heraklion, carried out searches at the 34-year-old’s house and his sheepfold. The 34-year-old was arrested for violations of the police order on animal theft (lack of tags on part of the animals, failure to submit a livestock declaration, failure to post a sign) as well as violations of the Animal Welfare Act, while the prescribed administrative fines were also confirmed.

As stated in the police announcement, the agricultural vehicles that had been stolen and found were assigned to the victims, while the preliminary investigation to identify the remaining perpetrators and investigate their criminal activity continues by the Heraklion Sub-Directorate for Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes.
