The gathering planned for tonight at 20:00 in Syntagma Square, by collectives of solidarity in the Palestinian cause, was forbidden by the Greek Police, on the occasion of the completion of one year since the death of the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar in Gaza.

In a statement issued by GADA it is stated:

“It is announced that by decision of the Director of the Athens Police Directorate, it is prohibited to hold a public outdoor gathering on Thursday 16-10-2025 at 20:00 in Syntagma Square by members of the collectives “Gather for Gaza” & “Stand with Palestine” with the participation of members of the “People’s Front of Turkey” on the occasion of the one year anniversary of the death of YAHYA SINWAR, leader of the Palestinian organization “HAMAS” and from 17:00 on 16-10-2025 until 06:00 on 17-10-2025 of any public open-air gathering related to the above, in the area enclosed by the streets:

King Constantine – King Alexander – King Sophia – Plutarch – Patriarch Joachim – Skoufa – Lycabettus – Amerikis – Kolokotroni – Boreu – Athena – Ermou – Pl. Monastirakiou – Mitropoleos – Filellino – L. Vas. Amalia – L. Vas. Olga – L. Vas. Konstantinou.

The above prohibition is imposed as their conduct poses a serious risk to public safety due to the possible commission of serious crimes, especially against life, physical integrity and property, and there is a serious threat of disrupting socio-economic life in the area.”
