The 21-year-old Greek-American, who is accused of participating in a criminal organization, based in the USA, which operated via the Internet, with the aim of sexually exploiting vulnerable groups of minors and trafficking child pornography around the world, was sentenced to pre-trial detention, after his apology to the Thessaloniki investigator.

The case filed against him is based on the findings of an investigation by the American prosecution authorities, according to which the members of the criminal organization approached, through an online platform, unsuspecting minor victims in order to force them to “share” videos with scenes of violence, self-harm, sexual acts, pornography and other heinous acts. According to information, the specific ring is called “764” targeting minors, between 8 and 17 years old, especially black youth, youth from the LGBTI+ community or youth who were experiencing mental health problems. The Americans describe the organization as “violent, extremist and nihilistic”.

The Americans had requested the extradition of the young Greek-American with an international wanted notice. He was arrested last April in Thessaloniki, where he lives with his family, but the Appeals Council decided not to extradite him due to his Greek citizenship. However, an investigation by the Greek Authorities was already underway, as part of a preliminary investigation, for the same acts that the 21-year-old allegedly committed from our country, and therefore the Greek Courts had jurisdiction.

After the conclusion of the investigation, criminal prosecution was brought against him – as against his 18-year-old accomplice – and arrest warrants were issued for the offenses of membership in a criminal organization, serious intentional bodily harm to vulnerable persons with indirect perpetration, serially and jointly, pornography of minors and revenge pornography.

The 21-year-old defendant denied the indictment in his plea. “I entered the application but I have nothing to do with this particular organization. I went to the 18-year-old’s house and clicked on the app from his own computer.”reportedly, among other things, apologized. Prosecutor and investigator unanimously “showed” him the way to prison.

In the meantime, his 18-year-old co-accused – who according to the indictment committed the acts attributed to him while he was a minor – was given a deadline to apologize on Monday before the same investigator.
