A worrying incident domestic violence in weight high school student in Voloswhich was revealed thanks to the sensitivity and immediate mobilization of its teachers. But the latter incident could no longer be concealed, as the bruises were extensive and visible even to the naked eye. The teachers, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, immediately informed the Volos Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office as well as the Police.

According to the same sources, the minor girl confessed to her teachers that the bruises on her hands were from blows inflicted on her by her fatherwhile her also minor sister had her arm broken three times within a period of 6 months.

The case is now in the judicial investigation phase, in order to assign responsibilities wherever they may be and to ensure the safety of both the child in question and her sister, as apart from the violence the two girls receive, there is strong evidence of neglect. The child, speaking to the school counselor and the school psychologist, reportedly said that the mother left home because she too was a victim of the father’s violence.

The incident brings to the fore again the phenomenon of domestic violence, which, according to social scientists, has reached alarming proportions in recent years, especially among minors. It also highlights the crucial role of the school as the first line of defense against silence and fear.
