The timeline of recruitment processes permanent and substitute teachersas well as information on the total number of teachers and students in schools in Greece was published by Ministry of Education with an informative note.

At 14.7% the percentage of substitutes in schools

According to data obtained yesterday, Friday, from the myschool information system, on 13,350 school units of the territory, a total of 191,746 permanent and substitute teachers serve. In addition, the male and female students who attend Primary and Secondary Education are 1,309,831.

In more detail, of the total number of teachers, 163,580 are permanent and 28,166 are substitutes. Thus, at the moment, the percentage of deputies on the whole amounts to 14.7%.

As clarified today, Saturday, by the Ministry of Education, the number of permanent teachers was obtained from the myschool system and reflects active permanent teachers, with course assignments from 1 to 5 school units. In addition, it was clarified that the number of substitutes refers to teachers, except for Special Educational Personnel (EEP) and Special Auxiliary Personnel (EPP).

“The Ministry of Education closely monitors the staffing needs of the school units in collaboration with the Regional Directors, the Directors of Education as well as the Directors of the school units, for the proper management of human resources, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the schools,” states the information note, which, however, does not mention the exact number of functional gaps remaining.
