The activity of the Roma gang that ransacked houses in various areas of the Municipality of Pyrgos is presented by the newspaper “Patris”, bringing to light documents from the theft cases, as well as unknown aspects of the case.
The five defendants, 25 and 26 years old, two 27-year-olds and a 53-year-oldwill apologize today before her Investigator Ilias, based on the criminal prosecution brought against them last Saturday by the District Attorney of Ilia, for aggravated theft by two or more who had organized with the purpose of committing thefts, as accomplices and as a follow-up, committed and attempted, for robbery as accomplice, forming a gang, illegal possession of weapons and carrying weapons.
In one of the cases the perpetrators came face to face with their owners of one home, even going so far as to threaten me carbine a child in order to escape.
The specific incident occurred on Monday evening, September 22, 2025, in Mouzaki. The three of the perpetrators, after breaching the main door of the house, entered the bedroom, from where they removed gold worth 3,000 euros and a carbine, which was locked in a cupboard. At the moment when the victim was returning to his house, together with his wife and their two children, he realized that the perpetrators were inside it. Then, he left the family waiting in the yard and entered the house. The three attackers fled through the balcony door, falling on top of the family members. At that moment, one of them, who was holding the stolen rifle, pointed and threatened the victim’s minor daughter, which led the father to stop the pursuit. After pleas not to shoot, the assailants fled, throwing away the shotgun as they fled, shortly before Karya.
They are included in the action a total of twelve thefts (the predatory one) and two attemptswith their booty, jewels, money and other articles, to be valued by the authorities at 17,000 euros, patrisnews reports.
Characteristically, gang members organized themselves into groups with a different composition each time, while using cars, some of which were then tampered with or destroyed to prevent incriminating evidence being found, such as setting fire or removing parts. The investigation, which was based on the testimonies of victims, the identification of evidence, surveillance and the use of video material, revealed that the spiral was active from the beginning of September until the middle of October. The team members identified targets, monitored the movements of the occupants and “knocked” at times when they knew no one was home. In fact, in some cases they stole in broad daylight.
The chronicle of the thefts
With a base camp in the Community of Prasinos, they started the thefts at the beginning of September from country house in Katakoloremoving gold and other items, worth 3,000 euros. On September 18, they stole a repeating carbine from a house in Lasteika, while on the same day they took items worth 5,000 euros from a house in Prasinos.
The very next day they “knocked” again at the house in Lasteika. On September 29, they stole money and a bank card from a car in Kapandriti Xylokeras and then fled, after being noticed by the owner. On October 1, electronic devices and three bags with keys were taken from a house in Kouzuli. On October 3, they went to Prasinos again, but were noticed by the owner and left. However, on October 16, they went to the same house again, with stolen goods worth approximately 2,100 euros.
On October 4, they committed a theft from a vehicle in Karatula. Also, in a period estimated from October 10 to 12, appliances and other items were stolen from a country house in Spianza. A theft in the same area also occurred on October 11.
On October 5, they attempted to steal a house in Alpohori, whose owners live in Athens. In this case they were noticed by a woman who visits it to maintain it. The last theft took place on October 19 in Katsaros, where various tools were taken from a house.
Film capture operation
The curtain fell on their criminal activity in the early hours of October 24, when the Pyrgos Crime Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate carried out a large-scale police operation reminiscent of a movie scene.
