Rock music legend Mick Jagger spent three days in Chania, who, at 82 years old, remains active and has a huge interest in ancient Greek culture.

zarpanews.gr met the frontman of the Rolling Stones at the Venetian Port, on Theotokopoulou Street, during his departure from Chania.

Mick Jagger with natural simplicity agreed to convey his impressions of Ancient Eleftherna and the excavation on the Kasteli hill of Chania where he was privately guided on Sunday, stating that he found everything particularly interesting and leaves with the best impressions of Chania and Crete.

Asked about the Parthenon sculptures on the occasion of his recent visit to the British museum and with typical British humor he replied that “they are still there” and when asked to express his opinion on whether they should be returned to Greece, he replied that… he has no opinion.

The visit

On Saturday, Mick Jagger surprised the visitors with his presence in Ancient Eleftherna, while according to information from zarpanews.gr, the local archaeological service had been informed about his upcoming visit. After a full tour of the Basilicas, the Necropolis of Orthi Petra and the Museum of Ancient Eleftherna, the 82-year-old rock star had lunch at a local tavern.

Yesterday Sunday, he was privately guided to the excavation of ancient Kydonia where his deep knowledge of the Minoan civilization was revealed. In the evening, ate at a restaurant in the old town.
