“Married and widowed,” Charalambos Anagnostopoulos told the court, giving his details at the beginning of his trial for the murder of Caroline Krauts’s wife.
The defendant’s side came to the MOD with a request for suspension, which it made immediately after the jury draw.
The 34-year-old pilot was taken to the courtroom shortly after nine in the morning and sat in the defendant’s seat, from where, after stating his details, he heard the indictment from the Prosecutor General’s Office carefully and looked the prosecutor in the eye.
Caroline’s mother and father were not present in court, were represented by lawyer Thanasis Harmanis and declared a civil suit.
“Mr Krauts has mobility problems and is unable to move. “Her mother really wanted to attend but the doctors did not allow her so that her health would not be shaken,” said the family’s legal representative. The court also accepted the request of the Marathon Animal Welfare Association to appear as a civil lawsuit for the killing of Caroline’s dog.
The Mixed Jury Court proceeded with the draw of the jurors and the three female judges were completed by four jurors, two men and two women.
The trial was adjourned until April 12.
