The prosecutor of the headquarters consented to the request, referring to the mental suffering of the victim in case of a public procedure and pointing out that only for the athlete’s testimony, the doors of the court should be closed.

The lawyer of the accused, Theodoros Mantas and Vasso Pantazi, wrote the proposal of the prosecutor.

Earlier, the former coach, hearing the prosecutor read the indictment, cried constantly, while at the end of the reading, his lawyers were placed on the indictment instead of him.

“For the act of rape he states allegation of complete denial of the charge. Fully confesses the other two acts, the sexual acts with a minor and the abuse of a minor within the age of 12-14, just as the accusation is made. “With a clear knowledge of age,” the defense said. In fact, one of the lawyers, Mr. Mantas, referring to reports that the accused claims that he had the consent of the minor, stressed: “Consent does not mean rape. We have no such claim. The minor, precisely because of his minority, does not have the will to consent. We have a minor, the story is over “ he said.

The case of the athlete is the first of the meToo movement that reached the Prosecutor’s Office after the testimony of the Olympian Sofia Bekatorou. The coach had been arrested on a warrant and has been temporarily detained in Tripoli prison since January 24, 2021.
