Next week, the orphanage in Attica, for which there were allegations of child abuse before Christmas, will be closed forever, as the Deputy Minister of Welfare and Social Solidarity, Domna Michailidou, revealed on SKAI radio.
The Undersecretary pointed out that out of the 30 children who lived in the structure, today only two are hosted, which will be given to a foster family and next week there is none.
He added that within a week the ministerial decision will come, which will provide the licensing framework and the operating specifications of the structures that host minors.
It is recalled that the Undersecretary, speaking to SKAI, had explained that there were complaints for sexual intercourse between boys from the age of 7 to 11 years in front of employees.
“The complaint does not specify whether the employees made them do it, but it mentions specific sexual relations and acts between very young boys and there was no reaction or intervention from the employees.”
In addition, Ms. Michailidou had reported that based on the complaint, women working in the orphanage were physically abusing children, while it was reported that there was a storage room that was used as a punishment cell. He even reveals that they were even given expired drugs.
