Patricia Falcinelli reminded that in the year of the glorious celebrations for the two hundred years since the Greek Revolution (1821-2021), the Italian embassy in Athens contributed to the publication of the project “The contribution of the Italians to the Greek Revolution”, published by ETR- Athens, which for the first time methodically highlights the history of the Italian philhellenes, bringing to light their – essential for the success of the Greek Revolution – their contribution. “Proof”, added Ambassador Falcinelli, “of the political, social and cultural closeness and solidarity between Italy and Greece, Friends and Allies”.

This year, Italy is the honored country of the events “Messolonghi honors the countries of the Greeks”, organized by the city that connects its name with the place of death of the romantic poet Lord Byron.

After the greetings, as indicated in the same announcement, a concert was held inspired by the musical and cultural tradition of the Greek-speaking regions of Lower Italy, with songs in Greek and other Italian dialects, entitled “In the Ionian Seas”, by the musician Encardia group, organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Kakogiannis Foundation.
