After the ceremony, the minister made statements in which he stressed the inseparable connection of the Greeks with Orthodoxy and Christianity, while he also referred to vandalism at the Imperial Gate of Hagia Sophianoting that Turkey has an obligation to find and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In particular, the minister had the opportunity to attend the formal completion of the preparation ceremony of Agios Myros with the special wish read by the Primate of Orthodoxy and to participate in the procession of the now consecrated Myros to the Myrrh of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. It will be kept there for the next ten years and will be sent to all Orthodox Churches around the world to perform the Sacrament of Christ.

At the end of the process, Mr. Theodorikakos made the following statement to MEGA TV station and the correspondent of the TV station in Istanbul Andrea Robopoulos: Myros, a ceremony that takes place once every 10 years. I was honored by His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew to invite me and I think it is a special moment. “Greeks are inextricably linked to Orthodoxy and Christianity, which is why we always treat the Patriarchate of Constantinople with respect and a special place in our hearts and minds.”

Asked by the journalist about the vandalism in Hagia Sophia and the damage caused, the minister stressed: “I understand that the Turkish authorities have the obligation, in any case, to find the perpetrators of the vandalism of the Hagia Sophia and to bring them to justice. “

Afterwards, the Minister of Citizen Protection attended a dinner hosted by the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew. Mr. Theodorikakos will have meetings with members of the Greek community in Istanbul and will return to Greece tomorrow.
