Turkey once again chose the tactic of provocation and impression. Immediately after the intense march of Athens to Ankara for the overflights of Turkish fighters in the Aegean, another 16 overflights over Greek islands followed, confirming the reasons for which the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted.
A little while after the Greek stepat 5.17 in the afternoon, a third pair of Turkish F-16 fighter jets flew over Lipsi at 27,000 feet, and at 5.18 in the afternoon at Arki at 14,000 feet.
But Ankara did not limit itself to the above actions.
A fourth pair of Turkish F-16s flew, at 19:37 over the island of Ro, at 25,000 feet, at 19:38 over Megisti, at 25,000 feet and at 19:40 again over Ro, at 24,000 feet .
The same pair of fighters flew at 19:58 over the island of Kalolimnos and Imia, at 20:05 again over the island of Kalolimnos, at 20:08 over Lipsi and at 20:09 over Arkios.
The barrage of violations and overflights was continued by the same pair of fighters at 20:18 over Agathonisi, at 20:19 over Arkios and at 20:20 over Lipsi, at 20,000 and 24,000 feet respectively.
The same couple continued their flights in the Aegean, as at 20:27 they flew over Telendos, at 20:28 over Kalymnos and at 20:29 over Imia at 23,000 feet.
A total of 24 overflights and 121 violations took place during the day.
In the afternoon, an extraordinary meeting was held under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in which the Turkish provocation was discussed, while it was decided to cancel the Greek invitation to Ankara to participate in the NATO exercise in Araxos, Tiger Meet.
Earlier there was a reaction from the Foreign Ministry, which testified strongly to the Turkish ambassador in Athens, stressing that these actions are an unacceptable challenge.
Earlier, pair of Turkish F-16 aircraft, flew over Arki at 10:18 at 27,000 aprons, at 10:21 at 26,000 aprons and at 10:28 at 22,000 aprons.
It then flew over Lipsi at 10:19 at 27,000 feet, at 10:22 and 10:24 at 26,000 feet and at 10:26 at 21,000 feet.
The overflight continued over Agathonisi at 10:29 at 25,000 feet, over Samos at 10:33 at 25,000 feet, over Fourni at 10:37 at 26,000 feet and over Oinousses at 10:43 at 28,000 feet .
In addition, a pair of Turkish F-16 aircraft, at 12:13 flew over Farmakonisi, at 12:15 over Lipsi, at 12:17 over Fourni and at 12:24 over Oinousses at 26,000.
In all cases, the Turkish fighter jets were identified and intercepted by respective Greeks in accordance with international rules on a regular basis.
