At the “exit” from the Urban Transport Organization Thessaloniki (OASTH), are located 14 employees as after an inspection it was found that either they had fake diplomas or they had none at all.
The case, according to voria.gr, has been going on for almost a year now, when after an initial inspection it was found that there were high school diplomas the lyceum which appeared to be non-genuine. In fact, in June 2021 President and CEO of OASTH George Skodras had made a public complaint alleging the use of fake diplomas by employees of the Organization.
Those complaints of Mr. Shkodra had provoked her intervention of the head of the Prosecutor’s Office of Thessaloniki who had requested a preliminary investigation to investigate the allegations. The offenses to be investigated were those of forgery and breach of duty or fostering a criminal in the event that the situation was found to be known to the competent authorities of the ΟΑΣΘ and made the crooked eyes, all the previous years.
In the following months there was a detailed check of the authenticity of the diplomas. He found 14 cases in which the diplomas were either falsified or non-existent. The possession of a diploma was a condition for the recruitment in OASTH and for this reason the specific employees committed forgery.
According to information from Voria.gr, the National Transparency Authority also intervened in the case, requesting information on the results of the investigation into the authenticity of the diplomas and, consequently, on the fate of the specific employees who had taken these actions.
According to the same information, with the completion of all audits, the OASTH administration gave order to initiate the dismissal process, something that is expected to happen even within the week. These are employees with more than ten years of work as the last recruitments in OASTH were made eleven years ago. According to a competent source, most of the 14 are drivers.
Asked about this, Mr. Skodras told Voria.gr that “it is not something pleasant what is happening, but we are obliged to do what the law provides, otherwise we will be accused of breach of duty.”
