Europe will continue to buys russian oil through third countries when it implements the embargo, he said Vladimir Jabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairsin a first reaction of Moscow to the sixth package of European sanctions announced by the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Layen presented today at the European Parliament in Strasbourg the sixth package of sanctions against Moscow, which will include a gradual embargo in Russian oil imports.

It is proposed the ban on Russian oil from Europe, with a complete ban on imports by sea and via pipelines of refined and crude oil. This will be done gradually, within six months for crude oil and by the end of the year for refined products.

The sixth package of sanctions includes, inter alia foreclosure of additional major Russian banks as well as the transmission to the EU of three more Russian news channels.

Russian sanctions on 63 Japanese officials

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today that it will impose sanctions against 63 Japanese officials, journalists and teachers for what they called “unacceptable rhetoric” against Moscow.

The list includes, among others, the names of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and Defense Minister Nobuo Kisi.

The sanctions provide for an indefinite ban on the entry of these individuals into Russia, the ministry said.
