The Church today, May 6, honors the memory of the saint Seraphim who practiced on Mount Dobu in Levadia.

Saint Seraphim was born in the village Jelly of Boeotiafrom pious and virtuous parents, who nurtured him in the Gospel, that is why from a young age Saint Seraphim, had a tendency to study the Scriptures and the ascetic life.

At a young age and despite the temporary refusal of his parents, Saint Seraphim went to the Monastery of the Prophet Elijah, on Mount Karkara, where he built a temple in the name of the Savior Christ and practiced there.

His fame soon became known and he began to receive frequent visits from parents, friends and devout believers, who turned to the saint to advise and help them.

For this reason o Saint Seraphim left his favorite cave and went to the monastery of Agioi Anargyroi. He quickly left this Monastery and went to the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior, on Mount Sagmatio, between Boeotia and Evia.

There he quickly shone as a first-rate spiritual star and the abbot made him a monk, giving him the name Seraphim. He was later ordained a deacon and an elder. A little later and in order to avoid vanity due to the reputation of his virtues, he asked the permission of the abbot and left the Monastery.

He reached the west of Elikon, at the site of Dobou, where he built a temple of the Savior, some cells and invited some monks near him.

There Saint Seraphim practiced for ten years, teaching the other monks the saving lessons of solitary life. He passed away at the age of 75, after announcing his sleep and communicating the timeless Mysteries.

Kara and part of the Holy Relics of the Saint are located in the homonymous Monastery of Viotia. Fragment of the Holy Relic of the Saint is located in Monastery of Agathonos, Fthiotida.
