Juvenile gang dismantled – They robbed with knives on the Acropolis

Immediately after committing the robberies and thefts, the robberies were distributed to thieves. The police investigation so far has investigated 13 cases of robbery and 31 thefts.

According to the Hellenic Police, the accused have been repeatedly arrested, in the context of the spontaneous procedure, for committing similar crimes. The The detainees were taken to the Athens Public Prosecutor’s Officewho referred them to the Juvenile Investigator.

A multi-member gang, with members mainly minors, who systematically committed thefts and robberies, mainly in the Acropolis area but also in Kallithea, Nea Smyrni and Paleo Faliro, was dismantled by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate.

A case was filed against 27 people, 18 of whom are minors. It is noted that 4 of the above accused are already detained in Detention Centers.

To dismantle the gang, a coordinated police operation was carried out in the morning hours of 5-5-2022 by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate, during which 13 of its members were arrested, 10 of whom are minors.

In addition, another minor was arrested for attempting to release a prisoner.

In order to dismantle the gang, a long-term thorough investigation of the above Service preceded, during which its activity was revealed, at least from the middle of the year 2021 and its members were identified.

As it turned out, the action of the gang was continuous, its members were mainly minors (locals and foreigners), changing its composition each time and committed:

Robberies mainly in the area of ​​the Acropolis at the expense of pedestrians and preferably minors and

· Thefts from citizens, tourists, cars, shops and houses, mainly on the rocks of the Acropolis but also in the areas of Kallithea, Nea Smyrni and Paleo Faliro.

It is pointed out that during the commission of the robberies, they used extreme cruelty and removed, using physical force and the threat of a knife, in all cases, objects from their victims.

After committing robberies and thefts, they immediately made the thefts available to thieves.

From the investigation so far, the following were identified:

In addition, the above accused have been repeatedly arrested, as part of the spontaneous procedure, for committing similar crimes.

The arrested, with the case file against them, were taken to the Athens Public Prosecutor for Misdemeanors, who referred them to the Juvenile Investigator.
