And there’s going to be Oktoberfest. In November and December, but it goes.
The world’s leading beer party, Munich’s Oktoberfest was canceled in May for the second year in a row and for the same reason: the pandemic caused by Covid-19, which enters Germany’s fourth wave — here we are always surfing, our wave never ends.
Blumenau, the biggest celebration in Brazil, idem. Same reason.
Thus, São Paulo Oktoberfest becomes probably one of the biggest events of its kind yet to take place in 2021, at least in Brazil. In its fourth edition, the party in São Paulo takes place between November 25th and December 12th —in the next three weeks, from Thursday to Sunday.
In the brewing part, diners have nothing to complain about. The main beer at the event will be the traditional munich helles by Spaten, a centuries-old brand from Munich and one of the six official beers of the German Oktober — and which arrived in Brazil recently after joining Ambev’s portfolio.
Next to Spaten, four versions of Schornstein, beer from Pomerode (SC), close to Blumenau: india pale ale, session IPA, pilsen and the Oktoberfest special, a little more malty, made especially at this time.
As usual, the beers receive the good company of typical German cuisine recipes, including a lot of sausage and pretzel.
Another novelty of the São Paulo party is the location: after passing the Sambódromo do Anhembi and the Jockey Club, the event gains its headquarters in Villa Alemã, in the Brooklin neighborhood, in front of the Estaiada bridge. The area of 22 thousand square meters is much larger, for example, than the space occupied in the Sambódromo, of 16 thousand square meters, with the traditional biertent —the main tent, where the shows take place—, biergarten, with community tables, and bierpark, with toys for children and adults.
To enter the party it is necessary to present a vaccination passport or a negative Covid test done 48 hours before. The adult admission price varies between R$90 (Thursday and Friday) and R$180 (Saturday and Sunday). But there are promotional tickets for those who bring 1 kg of non-perishable food or show up in typical attire.
Beer and food aside, if you can leave beer and food aside, the event has a very eclectic concert schedule. For those who want a typical playlist of the party, every day there is Bando do Fritz to open the works. In the first week, there is also Banda do Barril. The main show on the first day (Thursday, 25) is on behalf of the Queen Experience in Concert; on Friday (26) there is the electronic duo Cat Dealers; Saturday (27), 70s will have fun to the sound of Abba Experience in Concert; and the first weekend closes on Sunday (28), with ex-RPM Paulo Ricardo.
