The new US Ambassador, George James Tsouni, was received today in his office by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister, Nikos Hardalias.
During the talks, which took place in a very cordial atmosphere, the extremely high level of the strategic defense relationship between Greece and the USA was highlighted, which is based on common values ​​and a strong friendship between the two countries and their peoples.
In this context, the importance of the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) and the role of Greece as a stable, reliable and long-term ally of the United States to promote security and stability in the wider region were stressed.
They also discussed the security situation in the wider region and stressed the need for full respect for international law and the principle of good neighborliness, as a fundamental condition for consolidating a climate of security and cooperation.
Finally, the meeting highlighted the important role of the Greek community in the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between Greece and the United States.
