Goose Island is getting older. The brewery born in 1988, in Chicago (USA), celebrates its 34th birthday this May. To mark the occasion, of course, there’s a launch: a helles bock called Memory Lane, a classic 1990s style. ale, for example, has between 45 and 55 IBU).
Despite having emerged in the late 80s, at the hands of John Hall, it was in the following decade that Goose Island prospered as one of the main brands of the craft beer boom in the United States. Today in Ambev’s portfolio, the brewery also has brewhouses in China, Canada, South Korea and São Paulo, in the Pinheiros district, where Memory Lane will be served, while supplies last.
“On such a remarkable date, we wanted to remember our past and value this whole trajectory with a reverence for one of the most contemplated beer styles at that time”, says Vanessa Nastari, marketing manager for Goose in Brazil. “The celebration is a tribute to this phase and to the characteristics that involved the consumption occasions of the people who experienced the birth of our brewery”, she adds.
In addition to beer, the brewhouse also included a burger for the occasion, the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, made with breaded and fried chicken breast, hot sauce and coleslaw salad with pickles.
To complete the celebration, only this Saturday (14th) there is a party with other artisanal brands invited —Grandparents, Tarantino and Hocus Pocus. And whoever is dressed in 90s costumes gets a combo with a beer and a hamburger (probably a grunge-style flannel shirt is worth it).
