“The multinational mid-range air exercise” NATO Tiger Meet 2022 “is proof of the important role that Greece plays, as a factor of stability in the region.”

These were emphasized, among others, by the head of GEETHA, a general Konstantinos Florosin statements he made today in the 116th battalion of the air force at the airport of Araxos, during an event on the occasion of this exercise.

In particular, the head of GEETHA stated:

“We are always happy to have real friends and allies at our bases, because we have the same perspective on what is happening in our region during these difficult times, which are constantly becoming more difficult. The Greek Armed Forces are a factor of stability and peace in the region and activities such as the one advocated by the multinational mid-range air exercise ‘NATO Tiger Meet 2022’, are proof of the important role that Greece plays as a factor of stability in the region. This is what we are doing, this is what we will continue to do in the stubbornness of all those who, through various methods, try to prevent this thing from happening “.

Responding to a reporter’s question about Turkey’s expulsion from the exercise, he said:

“With the direction and approval of the political leadership, Turkey, I could say inside and outside quotation marks, is dismissed from this exercise, because the events that took place on April 24 were events that have never happened. So how could we combine good education and good relations with what happens every day in the Aegean?

At the same time, Konstantinos Floros pointed out: “How could we have Turkish aircraft here, when what happened on April 24 is happening. “The decision was made on the day we had the storm of provocative behavior by Turkey.”

Earlier, in the greeting addressed by the head of GEETHA during the event, he stressed that “nowadays we face complex security challenges and the only way to face them is through close cooperation between allies and partners who share common values and respect each other. ».

“Greece,” he said, “under the guidance of the political leadership, promotes peace and security, always guided by international law and good neighborly relations.”

“The Armed Forces,” he added, “have extensive military cooperation with allies and partners bilaterally and multilaterally.”

In particular, for the “Tiger Meet” exercise, he pointed out that “it is a very important multinational aviation exercise, aimed at promoting interoperability and security”.

The exercise hosted by the 335 Squadron started on May 9 and will end next Friday. More than 60 fighter jets and helicopters take part daily in complex business missions, covering a wide range of modern air warfare missions.

The purpose of the exercise is to provide high quality business training in the spirit of “Train as you fight”.
