Earlier today, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met with US Ambassador George Tsounis.
During the meeting they exchanged verbal statements about ratification of the Protocol amending the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) from Greece and the USA, a milestone for the strengthening of the strategic relations between Greece and the USA, as pointed out in a relevant post of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on twitter.

Welcoming the US Ambassador, the Foreign Minister said: “It is my great pleasure today to present to you the Note for the ratification of the MDCA, the Defense Agreement between Greece and the USA, by the Greek Parliament.
As you know, it was voted by a strong majority of more than 3/5. 181 Greek MPs voted for MDCA, and I must say that the dialogue in the Greek Parliament was a dialogue that, regardless of the views of the parties, showed that the vast majority, even beyond the 181 MPs, believe deeply in Greece’s relationship with the USA.
With these thoughts, and with the hope that your presence here will continue with the further deepening of our relations, and with the thanks of the Greek Government for the exceptional reception you reserved for Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis and for us, for the “An excellent reception also to the Prime Minister in Congress, I hand over to you the Note for the ratification of the Agreement”.
