Warm welcome to the Prime Minister, Kyriako Mitsotakireserved earlier today the inhabitants of the acritic Ψερίμου.
Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by the Mayor of Kalymnos, Dimitris Diakomichalis, the Governor of Kalymnos, Manolis Mousellis, while the former mayor of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Chris Alahouzos, who was from Kallimos, was also present.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis walked on the island and had the opportunity to meet old acquaintances and discuss with the locals about the problems that concern them. “You are doing a great job, not only for the primary sector but also a national project”, said Mr. Mitsotakis during his conversation with the fishermen of the island.
Then the Prime Minister went to Our Lady of Pserimos and then to the Police Department, the Port Authority and the Multipurpose Clinic, where he talked to the military doctor who has been offering his valuable medical services to the island’s residents since January, when he settled in Pserimos.
The doctor, Menelaos Samaras, had received a phone call from Kyriakos Mitsotakis when he took office and today they were given the opportunity to talk closely.
The Prime Minister made special reference to the telemedicine system applied on the island:
“I want to emphasize that telemedicine opens a new window of quality Primary health care for residents and visitors to the smaller islands. It is a program that now extends to the entire territory and will cover all our small islands. It enables a new doctor to have access to our most experienced doctors who are located in the center, in Athens, so that every case can be treated with the required specialization. So, it is not only the position of the doctor that is of special importance, it is also the fact that technology now allows us to stay and visit the small remote islands with other security. “Knowing that we are in good health.”
