The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Israeli authorities to take the appropriate actions to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
A chapel located on a property owned by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem was desecrated by members of a Jewish seminary last Monday morning.
The Patriarchate of Jerusalem complains that they desecrated the inside of the chapel while threatening the guard, who alerted the police. He also posted a photo and a short video of the incident.
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong concern about the incident. It calls on the Israeli authorities to take appropriate action to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
“Greece has consistently expressed its interest in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its ownership of the Holy Shrines in the Holy Land included in the consolidated Status Quo”, referred to in the notice.

We express our deepest concern for yesterday’s invasion of members of a Jewish seminary on a property owned by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the desecration, on their part, of the Chapel located there.
We expect appropriate action by the Israeli authorities to investigate the incident, bring those responsible to justice and prevent similar illegal actions in the future.
Greece has consistently expressed its interest in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its ownership of the Holy Shrines in the Holy Land, which are included in the consolidated Status Quo.
