“For several years now, the country has been experiencing an ongoing and multifaceted crisis, which has intensified in recent months. War, energy crisis, inflation, growing Greek-Turkish tension, are some of the challenges that need to be addressed immediately and effectively.
In these critical moments, it is necessary as never before, the political system and the parties to rise to the occasion. Wider consensus, sincere cooperation and joining forces are needed. Seriousness, responsibility and excesses are required. Above all, however, specific solutions are needed and not just slogans and images.
In order to effectively serve the national and collective interest, small-party calculations and expediencies need to be put aside.
Personally, I entered politics believing that the defense of the national interest and the courage for wider cooperation with respect for democratic logic, but also for individual political differences, were inviolable principles. Opposite each time to the forces of populism and demagogy that retreated the country.
However, the current leadership of PASOK seems to have chosen other paths. Without a clear direction and without a visible way out, with the sole aim of the percentages in the polls and not the implementation of these policies, in which the respective percentages must be translated.
And, above all, violating the principle that wants the country to always come above the party formations.
She walks, thus, trapped in personal and selfish choices, inferior to critical circumstances and irrelevant to historical challenges. Instead of innovating at the level of ideas and solutions, it is limited to the awkward political role of the “smart neutral”.
Without a stigma and without a clear plan for the course of the country. Without willingness to take responsibility and formulate clear positions, beyond the prologue and the slogan.
In this way, however, it contributes to paving the way for political instability and political uncertainty, which will work to the detriment of the country.
Especially in these conditions clean conversations are needed. Everything I believe does not allow me to continue to serve these policies
choices.
For these reasons, I submit today my resignation from a member of PASOK-KINAL. But I remain an active citizen and professional and I will
I continue to fight every day for a better tomorrow for the place.
