Greece is the natural host point of Europe and can be an energy hub of Europe – North Africa, said Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with Sky News
The Prime Minister referred, among other things, to the agreement with the United Kingdom on wind turbines and the agreement recently signed by Greece and Egypt on the electricity interconnection of the two countries. He stressed that we can procure cheap electricity generated by the sun in North Africa and through Greece to transport it to Europe, while the next step may be hydrogen and of course natural gas.
Speaking about “green” tourism, he referred to the energy autonomy of the smaller Greek islands and the examples of Astypalea and Halki, which he will visit on Friday, as he said.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his interview with Sky News referred specifically to climate change.
He said that the Mediterranean is particularly affected, while referring to the creation of a Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection in Greece after the catastrophic fires of the summer. Mr. Mitsotakis stressed that the first concern is always the protection of human life, and that in the future the planning is to be better prepared.
He also noted the need for greater assistance between European countries and faster activation of the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
