Tsipras at the General Assembly of SEV: We see the real “Mitsotakis effect” in inflation, the energy crisis, the skyrocketing cost of living

by

According to the president of SYRIZA, “the influence of the government of Mr. Mitsotakis on the great challenges of the time, complicates the problems, multiplies the weight and the consequences of existing crises, creates new ones”

“Three years later and in a painful way for the country, it is proving that the recipes that led us to bankruptcy in 2009 are not able to give impetus, perspective and prosperity to the post-historical, but fragile Greek economy of 2022”stressed o Alexis Tsipras talking to Annual Ordinary General Assembly of BSE members.

The president of SYRIZA-PS, after pointing out that the disagreements between them are known, commented that during the SYRIZA government the criticism of SEV focused on taxation and the state intervention in the market, while sometimes some overlooked significant successes, as he said: exit from the eight-year commission, debt settlement, return to international money markets, return of the economy to a stable growth trajectory, “cushion” 37 billion as a cover and embankment for possible future risks. He commented that three years ago some attributed the change of the Greek economy not to the above but to “So-called Mitsotakis effect”, that is, that “the emergence of a new government that embraces neoliberal economic policies, they said that it was the one that when it appeared, suddenly changed the whole picture of the Greek economy.” He commented, however, that if this claim is true then “whose effect is it that feeds today all the negative firsts in inflation and the energy crisis?” Whose effect feeds the rally in the spreads that yesterday increased by 300 basis points? ».

He noted that “the selective reduction of taxes on dividends and profits of a few companies”, the “complete deregulation” of the labor market and environmental legislation, the “dogmatic absence” of the state from market control, the “Maintaining the minimum wage in poverty levels in order to keep wage costs low.” He argued that “the real effect of this government” is “Today, three years after experiencing the effects of the ND government”, on inflation, on the energy crisis, on the unprecedented insecurity experienced by Greek society at all levels, both due to the skyrocketing cost of living but also due to the unprecedented tension with Turkey “. Mr Tsipras said that “The influence of Mr. Mitsotakis’s government on the great challenges of the time, complicates the problems, multiplies the weight and the consequences of existing crises, creates new ones”.
