MEPs may be called upon to fight the cross in a different environment, with more or less competition.

Everyone talks about next elections without anyone knowing when they will take place, but also the changes that will take place. The prime minister insists the parties have exhausted their four-year term, but are preparing feverishly for September. What is not known is that the date on which the ballot boxes will be set up will also determine some basic technical details for the way they will be conducted.

The presidential decision in the Official Gazette that will concern it has not been published yet in the official data of the 2021 census by the National Statistical Service. Once this is done, the Ministry of Interior by decision will distribute the seats based on the permanent residents appearing per area. Thus, it is not excluded that we may have differences in the way they are distributed by prefecture and unpleasant or pleasant surprises for the candidates. Theoretically this could cause changes even in the three seats that will be added to the State ballot (15 of 12) because of the expatriate vote. So far it is known how Athens, Southern Athens and Achaia will elect one less member of parliament.

What emerges is that if the elections are early and carried out in 2022 will be conducted based on the 2011 census. If the polls are set up normally in 2023, the new population data will be made according to the 2021 census.

These details do not concern so much the parties as the MPs who may be called upon to give the battle of the cross in a different environment. With more or less competition. ND and SYRIZA have already determined the strategies with which they will move. The prime minister emphasizes social policies, which is why his exhaustion of four years remains his priority. Acquiring an investment grade in 2023 is something that also weighs a lot and is not in a hurry to make its decisions. It would give a very important impetus to the government in the run-up to the elections.

In Koumoundourou preparations are in full swing and next week, when the Political Secretariat meets, the ballot committee will be appointed, which should have 80% of the lists ready by the end of July. They insist that the social majority is unable to cope with the obligations of the month and this will be evident even in the summer. Same alarm image on PASOK with Nikos Androulakis to plow the region showing the readiness of the party whenever the polls are set. In Charilaou Trikoupi, there is optimism that the party will remain in the 15% zone, almost doubling the percentage of 2019.
