The door to door policy and the agreements with major tour operators abroad, made Greece the 5th tourist brand in the world, the minister underlined.
Optimistic messages for this year’s tourist season also come from the traffic at duty free of the country’s airports, where the How many spent by tourists increase significantly.
As announced by the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias in Action24, there is an increase in the amounts spent by travelers in Duty Free Shops (DIS), typically stating that in the first 16 days of June, the increase reached 19% in relation to the corresponding period of 2019.
“A lot of hard work preceded in the autumn and winter, as had been done in the previous two years at the Ministry of Health with the pandemic, in order for the average Greek family to have income and to prosper”said Mr. Kikilias, referring to the positive results brought by the strategy of the Ministry of Tourism, which are reflected in the data published by the BoG with the impressive increases in arrivals and travel expenses last April.
As he underlined, initiatives such as the 9 direct flights a day from the USA, the door to door policy and the agreements with big tour operators abroad, made Greece the 5th tourist brand in the world making it, among other things, the number 1 destination for the French and Romanians, second in the travelers’ choices from the Nordic countries and in the top three in Germany and Britain.
Responding to reports by the leader of the Official Opposition on the looting of the middle class, he reminded that for the past 3 years the New Democracy government has only reduced taxes in contrast to the SYRIZA government which imposed 29 new taxes that cost Greek citizens 4.3 billion.
“Kyriakos Mitsotakis is the only solution for the country with the parliament. “It has faced all the crises very successfully, it has shielded the country and it has infiltrated a successful model abroad, which brings us investments, increases the income of the Greek and I believe that in the critical ballot box, everyone will take this into account”, Vassilis Kikilias stated characteristically.
