According to Kathimerini newspaper, Mr. Dendias has already repeatedly said in recent days that nothing is going to go unanswered and his directive is a move in that direction. In order to ensure that any technical issues arising from this process are addressed, which should be de facto automated but also rapid, contacts between the Greek Embassy in Ankara and the relevant military services at the Ministry of National Defense will be intensified. , to provide solutions without delay. Obviously the channel still exists, but the initiative was taken to standardize the process.
The mobilization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is broader and aims at highlighting the methodical Turkish provocation wherever it comes from. This includes the diplomatic campaign of maps, which intelligibly depict the evolution of Turkish expansion over the last 50 years and are currently presented by Greek delegations around the world to governments, public and private bodies. At the same time, signals are arriving in Athens which prove the growing value of Greece and more specifically of Alexandroupolis, as a hub for the diversification of energy sources for the EU countries. According to well-informed sources, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Sigiarto expressed to Mr. Dendias Budapest’s intention to join the choirs of the states that can supply natural gas that will arrive at the floating terminal (FSRU) of Alekhan. It is recalled that the initial planning includes Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and in the long run Ukraine, while for Hungary there have been discussions at EU level. It is recalled that Northern Macedonia, Albania and Serbia have expressed interest in the energy interconnection. During his stay in Athens, Mr. Sigiarto and the Hungarian delegation had more technical talks on the issue with Energy Minister Costas Skrekas and his staff. Despite the fact that at the moment the possibilities of promoting natural gas through Alexandroupolis are not what the occasion would require, it is estimated that the Ukrainian crisis will accelerate the process of their expansion.
