One day before the “third birthday” of the government of the ND since its emergence in the elections of July 7, 2019, the prime minister during today’s debate in Parliament on the social policy of the government, which is carried out on his own initiative, is expected to make the mark of the climate that will prevail on the way to the polls, whenever they are set up – sooner or later – as the government officials themselves have said from time to time, the last year of government is always pre-election.

With a speech on all the matter of government policy, but also with strong social sign at a time when citizens have already suffered the consequences of the energy crisis and the precision that the war has brought to Ukraine and the consequences of the pandemic that preceded it, the prime minister is expected to unfold in detail the policies of the government that have kept the country afloat , the economy and its citizens.

THE Kyriakos Mitsotakis from a step of the Parliament is expected to describe in detail all the measures of the last months that were taken to relieve the citizens, wanting to send the message that the ND government did much more during its three years of government, than what SYRIZA did in the four years of the left-wing government . After all, the “flag” of the political position of the prime minister, according to government officials, will be the comparison of the ND’s deeds with those of SYRIZA, transferring the public agenda to a privileged field for the ND, as they estimate in the government camp.

The tip of the spear will be the package of measures which the government enacted and continues to strengthen, as a buffer to the major international revaluations in the energy sector while special reference will be made to the reform of the suspension of the readjustment clause and the absorption of most of the revaluations in electricity. At the same time, the Prime Minister will also unfold the “government plans” for the autumn, if necessary, such as new interventions to reduce electricity and fuel prices, if the international price rally continues.

However, the clear message that Megaro Maximos has been sending out lately, and is expected to be made even clearer today by the Prime Minister and from the floor of the Parliament, is that “The government will continue to support the citizens within its fiscal capabilities” betting among other things on the increased revenues expected from the successful course of tourism.

In the quiver of the prime minister’s arguments will be exit from enhanced supervision in August but also the programmatic commitments of the government, which were implemented, despite the fluid economic environment of the last two years, such as the reduction of taxes and contributions.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to focus on reforms in the labor sector as well unemployment reduction by approximately 5 units, the digital work card, the extension of OAED programs for the unemployed, etc. While an extensive report is also expected on the large infrastructure projects that are being implemented or completed, on the policies for the green transition of the country and also on the provisions for the energy and food sufficiency of the country, in view of the difficult winter that is coming.
