The prefecture of Florina was visited by a governmental echelon of the ND within the framework of the visits of echelons of the New Democracy, throughout the country, with the main objective of promoting the governmental work and its communication at the local level.
The delegation was headed by the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Mr. Giorgos Karagiannis, the Secretary General of Information and Communication Mr. Dimitris Galamatis, accompanied by the deputy of the prefecture Mr. Ioannis Antoniadis and the deputies Mr. K. Paraskevi Bryzidou and Stefano Ghika.

The Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikos Panagiotopoulos, accompanied by the government echelon, the MPs and the party officials of the region, visited the Florina City Hall where he met with the mayor Mr. Vasileios Giannakis, he met at the headquarters of the Regional Unity with the deputy governor Mr. .Sotirios Vosdos, made consecutive visits to the 1st Infantry Regiment, to the National Guard of Victory and also to the Florina Hospital where he spoke with members of the administration and with employees. The minister’s program was completed with the visit of the echelon to the Metropolitan of Prespa and Eordaia etc. Theokletos. Referring to the visit, he said: “Today we participated in the tour of the government echelon in Florina, confirming the care shown by the Mitsotakis Government for strengthening the sense of security and responsibility in all the lengths and breadths of the territory. At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Mr. Giorgos Karagiannis visited the Solegron company’s facilities in Amyntaio, met with the members of DIMTO Amyntaio of ND, visited the Amyntaio City Hall where he met with the mayor Mr. Anthimos Bitakis, met with representatives of agricultural cooperatives in the area and also with members of the Board of Directors. of the Trade Association. In his statements, he emphasized: “During our tour in the prefecture of Florina, we had the opportunity to meet and talk with people full of appetite for work and vision for the future. The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis stands by their side, working every day for the well-being and advancement of local communities and the country. As the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, with Costas Karamanlis, we support the national effort for stable development through a coherent program of interventions that extends throughout Greece. Especially in Florina we implement a wide range of projects. For example, we proceeded with the major project for the first phase of the Triantafyllia Dam Irrigation Networks with a budget of 44 million euros and the relevant contract will be signed soon. At the same time, we will immediately auction a new project worth approximately 20 million for the city’s water supply from the Dam. For the road axis Ptolemaida – Florina, we are working to tender it at the end of 2023. In terms of railways, the prefecture’s network is part of the large PPP network restructuring with a budget of 270 million euros, while we are also studying new connections with our northern neighbors. At the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport we are confident that when there is political will, proper planning and close supervision, goals are achieved and projects become reality. The General Secretary of Information and Communication, Mr. Dimitris Galamatis, together with the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, visited the facilities of the Solegron company in Amyntaio, took a tour of the Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, visited the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Florina, the Social Welfare Center of the Region and met with members of the Chamber of Florina. After the end of his program he said: “Today I had the opportunity to visit the Regional Unit of Florina with a government echelon, together with the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Giorgos Karagiannis, the MP of Corfu, Stefanos Gikas, the MP of Kozani, Paraskevi Vryzidou and the MP of Florina, Ioannis Antoniadis.
It was a very productive visit, as we had the opportunity to meet with local stakeholders. I found myself in Amyntaio, the Solergon company and the Center for Natural Medicine and Rehabilitation and in Florina the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives, the Social Welfare Center of the Region of Western Macedonia and the Professional Chamber. At the press conference we held, special mention was made of the regional media, making it clear that the regional press and its strengthening are our priority and in this direction the initiatives we have taken as the General Secretariat of Communication and Information, as well as the next ones that will follow, have been developed in this direction . The Press is a cornerstone of every favored State and our Democracy, while the defense of pluralism and pluralism is our non-negotiable priority. In this direction, the role of the regional press is particularly important, as of course in the development of local societies”
The group was also attended by the Secretary of Social Solidarity and Human Rights ND, Maria Natsiou who, among other things, visited the Social Welfare Center of the Region of Western Macedonia, which is active in the sensitive field of social welfare and social protection, with the aim of supervising and coordinating actions concerning social care, the protection of the family, youth and childhood in the region of Western Macedonia. It is worth noting that on the initiative of the Secretary Maria Natsiou, in collaboration with the president of the Ammochori Community Mr. Pavlos Alexiadis and with the kind sponsorship of the optical group of the area, a free optometric examination was planned for residents of the local Community.
The visit concluded with the granting of a press conference on behalf of the members of the echelon to the Mass Media of the region and with their participation in the open Prefectural Assembly of the DEEP Florina of the ND, which was held under the coordination of its president Mrs. Nikolaos Evangelos and with the presence of Prefecture officials.
