The Minister of Interior Makis Voridis and the Deputy Minister of Digital Government in charge of Simplification of Procedures George Georgantas signed a Program Agreement concerning actions for the simplification and digitization of procedures under the competence of the Ministry of Interior. These are actions that are planned within the framework of the National Program for Simplification of Procedures (EPAD) and are a continuation of important projects that have already been implemented by the two ministries, such as the digital birth certificate.
With the Program Agreement, the two Ministries aim to improve the organization and staffing of the human resources of the Public Administration, in order to support the organizational and administrative changes promoted by the Ministry of Interior. The aim is also to simplify and digitize individual procedures under the Ministry of Interior.
In particular, actions are planned with the aim of:
• The simplification and digitization of procedures that will facilitate the handling of cases for Greeks living abroad,
• The digital reform of urban and municipal status processes, which will significantly reduce the time of processing various cases for the citizens, while reducing the operational and administrative costs,
• The digital reform of the procedures followed for the management of human resources in the Public Sector, but also the strengthening of the digital skills of the Executives of the Public Administration
• The implementation of innovation in Greek Public Administration
• The promotion of the electronic circulation of documents which will result in the reduction of the processing time of the citizens’ cases, the reduction of the administrative costs, but also the fight against corruption.
The coordination of the actions for the digital transformation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been undertaken by the Secretary General of Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures of the Ministry of Digital Governance, Leonidas Christopoulos and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
