The president of SYRIZA discussed with the citizens, who expressed their complaints about the cost of living
A fierce attack was launched by Alexis Tsipras against the prime minister and called on him to apologize to the Greek people for the fiasco with the power pass which turned out to be a “fraud pass” accusing him of deceiving the citizens since instead of 600 euros the return for most was 30 and 40 euros.
“I think the prime minister needs to apologize for the deception and he needs to come out and give a really brave program of support. Instead of the fraudulent pass that is 30 euros and 40, give a real power pass that can support households “underlined the president of SYRIZA PS during his tour of Amfissa.
As he pointed out during the meeting he had with the mayors of Delphi and Dorida, he had warned in time about the deception of the citizens.
“When the prime minister came out and announced this terrible thing power pass for the readjustment clause, we had called it a fraud clause then, if you remember, I had come out and said be careful because the wrath you will face is worse than the citizens if you lie. Because they have made lying a profession. They had come out then and said 600 euros to each consumer. That is, to 4.3 million consumers. First 1.7 million gets nothing. So 2.5 million get a refund, the power pass, which in the end is 260 million for 2.5 million consumers, an average of 17 euros per month for six months” he reminded and added: “The result now is that the government is facing in a wave of rage.
“He is looking for people to find the 600 and finds 20 and 30 euros and goes crazy. You make me even more angry. It is more honest, more honest, for them to come out and say “this is what we will give”” said the president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance and accused the government of communication games.
“Everything is communication. Everything should be a nice bubble. But at some point this communication ends. Because the time of judgment is coming. And the world sees the bill. He takes the bill. Whatever the channel that beautifies all things tells him, the other sees the bill in his pocket” he pointed out.
Pan-European negative lead in accuracy
Alexis Tsipras underlined that the big problem is overall accuracy that affects everyone. Professionals, traders, businessmen and citizens.
“The feeling is that if not in the first two weeks, in the third week the income is saved even for households that have two workers. Energy precision is scary, according to the Commission data we are first in the EU. This thing of being constantly first in negative firsts is awesome. First in electricity prices, in the cost of electricity for small, medium and large businesses and third for households. In energy inflation, the EU average on an annual basis is 39%, while the average in Greece is 62%,” said Alexis Tsipras.
As he explained, this is the result of indecent profiteering. “This happens because there is a framework of indecent profiteering by a cartel in which the otherwise Public Electricity Company and other 3-4 private companies with terrifying surplus profits which are not taxed” are the protagonists, as he characteristically said.
Arrogance and cynicism, the state’s indifference to the victims
Earlier, the president of SYRIZA stood with particular emphasis on those affected by the devastating fires of the previous days that affected the ancient olive grove of the area.
Alexis Tsipras called on the government to immediately support the affected people who have been left without income after their crops were destroyed and at the same time accused the government of being completely indifferent, since 10 days later, as the residents and authorities of the prefecture complain, no government official has visited the region.
“It is questionable how it is possible in such kind of cultural heritage monuments, not just useful places for cultivation and economic development, not to have an increased prevention. Olympia burned last year, the Delphic landscape burned this year,” he said, noting that the trees that burned were 100 and 200 years old. Trees of an olive grove that is protected for this reason by UNESCO.
Referring to the citizens’ complaints both about the response of the mechanism during the fire and the indifference for the next day’s part, the president of SYRIZA accused the government of arrogance and cynicism.
“I don’t know if it’s true, but if it’s true, I think it’s worse than if there was a failure of the state apparatus to respond at the time of the incident. The fact that for 10 days now, not one minister, one deputy minister, one secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development has come to meet these people, to pat them on the back and tell them we are here. What’s up, we’re here to help. If this is true, I really consider it an element of both arrogance and cynicism.”
“I will never pick olives from these trees again”
Earlier, Alexis Tsipras had met with the farmers and growers who saw their property reduced to ashes.
“I’m 80 years old, I’m not going to see these trees again to pick olives. How will my children, my grandchildren live here? “We have them as our children,” a grandmother told him next to the burnt olives of the Delphic landscape.
However, the residents of Amfissa also expressed disappointment and anger both for the accuracy and the cost of living. “The electricity is 600 euros, the salary is 800 euros, the other is left with 200 euros. Tell me now what he will do with 200 euros” said a professional. “Our place is being deserted, our city is being deserted” noted a trader.
