Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis began his presentation to the cabinet with references to the superhuman efforts of the firefighters to extinguish the fires.
The Prime Minister asked the “lounger firefighters”, who claim that the fires go out on their own, to show more respect for the efforts of the firefighters who stay up all night trying to put out the fire fronts.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined that all complaints about arson will be investigated, while he expressed his gratitude to the frontline fighters who put out more than 50 fires on average every day.
He also stressed that we still have difficult days ahead of us with the fires pointing out that the winds will strengthen and the state apparatus should be on alert.
Referring to energy, the Prime Minister said: “We are building national dykes against gas price hikes, exhausting the fiscal margins that are increased due to the good performance of the economy. Natural gas has increased 10-fold lately.”
He also referred to the regulation of the Ministry of the Interior, which leaves no room for fraud and additional charges on fixed assets at the expense of consumers.
The prime minister also referred to the announcement of the bases saying that this year they will be done earlier than ever.
