Regarding the opposition’s criticism of the Fuel Pass, the minister noted: “Whatever allowances the Government gives to our fellow citizens, for the opposition they will always be “crumbs”.

“At the moment we are doing the most checks for dirty money that have ever been done in the history of the Greek state”, noted the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiades in an interview today, on the radio station 100.3.

Specifically, in response to a question about checks related to the phenomenon of profiteering, the minister said: “We are constantly checking. In a parliamentary question about how many service stations we had checked, we said 156. Some thought this number was small. I am informing you that 156 gas stations have not been inspected throughout the four years of SYRIZA. Right now we are doing the most checks for dirty money that have ever been done in the history of the Greek state.”

Regarding the opposition’s criticism of the Fuel Pass, he noted: “Whatever allowances the Government gives to our fellow citizens, for the opposition they will always be “crumbs”. Here we gave the pandemic 43 billion and again they called it “crumbs”. Fuel Pass was designed from the ground up to roughly bring the monthly cost down to a price per liter about 15 to 20 minutes down, that was the logic.”

More generally, regarding the course of the economy, the minister said: “Certainly things are not easy in terms of inflation and what is happening in the economy, but on the other hand, the news in our economy is not only negative. The Greece of 2022 will have for the second consecutive year one of the highest growth rates in the entire European Union. We are experiencing record tourist receipts, record exports and record investments.”

Also, to a question about the course of tourism, he noted: “What Greece has achieved in the last three years and we are building for the next years is that we no longer aim so much at the number of arrivals but at attracting higher tourism income. This is how we have managed to bring chains to Greece, which, as investments mature, will attract tourists who have more money to spend. Greece is slowly conquering this”.

Finally, regarding the complaint of Mr. Androulakis regarding the attempt to trap his mobile phone, the minister said:

“First of all, the complaint is serious and must certainly be investigated. But is the issue of cell phone tracking complaints only a Greek issue? In the last 1.5 years, relevant complaints have been made to the European Parliament, as Mr. Androulakis’ complaint is in his capacity as a MEP. We’re in an age where someone can get this malware, which does the tracking. That’s the problem with modern technology. Anyone who has such a complaint should be investigated, but don’t make it all a political issue.
