The priorities of the Maximos Palace in view of the difficult winter that it and the whole of Europe are expecting are the energy shielding of the country, but also the exhaustion of the fiscal margins, without jeopardizing the economic stability of the country, in order to curb, as much as possible, the effects of punctuality affecting households as well as businesses.

With the aim of continuing to support citizens from the negative consequences of the energy crisis and precision, which came as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the government is putting on the carpet all the alternative scenarios that will lighten everyday life as much as possible the citizens.
Among the priorities of the Maximos Palace in view of the difficult winter that it and all of Europe is expecting, given the conditions created by Moscow’s energy blackmail, is the energy shielding of the country but also the exhaustion of fiscal marginswithout jeopardizing the economic stability of the country, in order to prevent, as much as possible, the effects of accuracy which affects households as well as businesses.
“The puzzle piece” that will finalize the new support measures is the course of revenue, mainly those that will come from the positive course of tourism in the country. However, although the signs of the Greek economy show that it is still holding up, no one can predict with certainty the turmoil that will arise from the international instability. In this context the announcements of the Prime Minister at the TIF are expected to be measured and targeted, with government sources not ruling it out continuation of basic support measures to the citizens that have been in force for months and concern both the subsidizing electricity billsas much as possible oneof a new fuel passwhile under “examination” is also possible extension of the heating allowance or even the possibility of one new “accuracy check». After all, the prime minister himself has made it clear many times that as long as the energy crisis lasts, the government will continue to support the citizens.
Besides, the government staff believes that, even slowly, the EU will understand the magnitude and the need for a comprehensive intervention in the energy sector for the benefit of its countries and their citizens, and as they expect, sooner or later a European response will be given. It is estimated that the fact that in this crisis the northern countries are burdened more than the southern ones will also contribute to this and consequently the obstacles they usually pose when searching for common solutions beneficial to all will be absent.
In any case, with a “ticket” the increased – as already recorded – revenues from tourism and depending on the course of the fiscal in general, the government is preparing to fill the “basket” of the Thessaloniki International Fair with a series of relief measures, as announced by the government representative. “At the TIF, after we measure correctly, prioritize the priorities, arrive at the possibilities, the prime minister will very specifically and with great clarity announce what are the support measures that Greek society can expect” said Yiannis Oikonomou during the briefing for the political editors. In fact, Mr. Economou reminded that the government already with the support measures it has taken so far, giving breathing space to the citizens, “has proven that very targeted, very substantial, with sober moves, always keeping reserves and without jeopardizing the fiscal stability of the country, we stand by the citizens to face these unprecedented crises that have very unpleasant consequences in their economic life, with which both Greek and European societies are faced” concluded.
