Side for ordering private doctors: If they do not come, we will go to mandatory procedures |

by

Thanos Plevris addressed a warning to the private doctors to join the system in order to help in the national effort to deal with the coronavirus, leaving open the possibility of their recruitment in the opposite case.

“We ask private doctors to strengthen the Health System. “If there is no response to the incentives we give, we will go to mandatory procedures to enter the system,” said Health Minister Thanos Plevris in support of the amendment he submitted to the bill of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for road safety.

Mr. Plevris, explained that with this amendment “the possibility is provided to private doctors, specialties that the system needs, to be able to provide services for a specific period and to be paid for each on-call duty that they will do with the amount of 250 euros – and in fact there is a discussion with the Ministry of Finance so that these are with independent taxation “. The minister noted that we are already “receiving services from the private sector, especially in Thessaloniki and Thessaly” and at the same time “we are asking private doctors to strengthen the System”.

He pointed out that the NSS doctors will be paid the same amount for on-call work that is done above the ceiling and with the same tax incentives.
Regarding the provision of the amendment concerning the obligation to vaccinate health personnel, the Minister stated that the review of the measure is extended until 31/12/2021. Unvaccinated permanent doctors will be suspended as needed, while unvaccinated assistants will not have their contract renewed
The Minister pointed out that the NSS has been significantly strengthened with permanent and auxiliary doctors, the ICU beds we have at our disposal have more than doubled, while at the same time we ask for assistance and the private sector is already providing it to us. He stressed once again that 87% to 90% of those in the ICU are unvaccinated people. Vaccinated people are much less likely to get seriously ill but also to transmit the virus, he added, adding that the third dose is very important.

Referring to the restrictive measures announced yesterday “and will be taken from now on”, the minister said that “these will always be related to our fellow human beings who do not want to be vaccinated”.

He noted that these “do not have a punitive nature but a protective one, as those who are most at risk can not, for the sake of public health, have the same freedoms as those who are neither at risk of getting sick themselves, nor are they at risk of transmission.”

Responding to the remarks and comments of the opposition, the Minister of Health asked KINAL to name in which other categories besides the health ones he would see the obligation of vaccination.

He called for serious opposition from SYRIZA, saying that “in the churches, with yesterday’s measures, those who are unvaccinated will all take two tests, we put the mask restriction and the distances” and noted that according to the constitutional framework the restrictions that can be set have to always do on the basis whether these are necessary or non-necessary activities.

He accused the leader of the official opposition Alexis Tsipras that with his announcement of the measures “he insulted the 33 members of the Commission, who are scientists of common acceptance, from the universities and the best in Greek society” who “for a year and a half advise non-profit the State “. He clarified that “the minister and the government are not hiding behind any Commission”. “We ask what measures should be taken and they suggest us. They do not overlap with each other, everyone has their role. “In the specific measures, the decision was unanimous, no one said it was not right,” he noted.

Regarding the existence of stocks of the vaccine, he explained that our country did not place an order but there was the supply based on the EU agreement which was based on the total population of each country. “The stock was created by our fellow citizens who were not vaccinated and because there is an expiration date on the vaccines, transnational agreements must be made for sales or donations to third countries. This does not mean that you will not make new supplies so that the citizens can either all be vaccinated or take a third dose “.
