PASOK: The prime minister has celebrated the country’s exit from supervision three times

by

“The everyday life experienced by Greek citizens, as well as the real state of the economy, are completely different,” the party said in a statement

“The prime minister and the economic staff of the government have celebrated three times in the space of two months the exit of the country from the enhanced supervision”, it says in a statement issued by the Press Office of the PASOK-Movement for Change.

The announcement in detail:

“The Prime Minister and the financial staff of the government have celebrated three times in the space of two months the exit of the country from the enhanced supervision – pre-decided by the lenders in 2019. Mr. Mitsotakis’ laudatory reports of a “historic day” and that supposedly “a new horizon of development and prosperity for all is emerging” have the sole purpose of setting up a misleading pre-election narrative. On the contrary, the everyday life experienced by Greek citizens as well as the real state of the economy are completely different.

  • With inflation running at 11.3% and being among the seven highest in the Eurozone.
  • With the purchasing power of Greeks being the second lowest in the EU.
  • With excess state revenues from indirect taxes not channeled into policies that effectively relieve the most vulnerable.
  • With the permanent deferral of taxing energy company super profits that boosts the big natural gas importers.
  • With the government’s refusal to temporarily reduce taxes on fuel, energy and basic consumer goods.
  • With the percentage of workers covered by collective labor agreements in Greece being the seventh lowest in the EU.
  • With the country having the highest debt/GDP level in Europe.
  • With the productive base still fragile, as a rapid increase in the merchandise balance deficit is recorded in the 1st half of 2022, which is the highest since ELSTAT data are available.

The citizens recognize the struggle and the responsible attitude of PASOK in the midst of an unprepared Europe to save the country from the brink of bankruptcy due to the fiscal derailment of the Karamanlis administration. Disastrous deeds which both ND and SYRIZA covered up. This was followed by the delusions of the Zappios and the “repeal of the memorandums with a law and an article”, which led to the third useless Tsipras-Kammenou memorandum.

Today, citizens once again trust PASOK – Movement for Change for solutions with social justice and national dignity”.
