“Greece has a clear understanding based on International Law, International Law of the Sea, European and global values, peace and stability,” underlined the Foreign Minister.

“The Greek government has a firm position: does not drift into escalation, he does not seek rhetorical escalation, he does not believe in this treatment of things,” the foreign minister said Nikos Dendias, in his statements to journalists in Zagreb, asked about the new provocative statements of the Turkish Defense Minister.

“Greece has a clear understanding based on International Law, International Law of the Sea, European and global values, peace and stability” underlined Mr. Dendias.

“We are not going to slip by being provoked into a rhetorical escalation. These things are none of our business. They belong in other centuries, in other timesin perceptions of empires that do not touch us”, he emphasized.

Mr. Dendias expressed his pleasure to be in Zagreb, invited by the Croatian Foreign Minister, to address the Summit of Ambassadors, Consuls General and Military Attaches.

As he mentioned, his presence in Zagreb and the subsequent hearing by the Croatian President shows the close relations between Greece and Croatia.

“We are proud because this year we are celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between our two countries, a success story, what is called a “success story”, in Europe and the Balkans”, he noted.

“With Croatia we strive together for peace and stability in the Western Balkans, to bring the Western Balkans into the European family. We are partners and friends in the EU, NATO, EUMED9. And this year we welcome Croatia to the Eurozone and we hope soon to the Schengen zone as well,” he added.

“Croatia is a country with which we face together and in a similar direction, with a common understanding of the great challenges that our region and humanity have in front of them” concluded the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
