The EU is providing €1,800,000 in humanitarian aid to families affected by flash floods in large parts of Pakistan.

The funding will help those affected in some of the worst affected districts of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

The Commissioner for Crisis Management, Mr. Janes Lenarcic, said: “Unusually heavy monsoon rains have led to deadly flash floods in Pakistan. While the on-the-ground assessment is ongoing, we expect that more than one million people have lost their homes and are in need of immediate assistance. The EU’s contribution underlines our commitment to the people of Pakistan and enables our partners to provide vital aid to those most affected.”

Funding goes to EU humanitarian partners working on the ground to meet the immediate needs of flood-affected families, including through the provision of temporary emergency accommodation, food and clean water, cash transfers, and primary healthcare services. This latest funding is in addition to the €350,000 awarded last week to help civilians in Pakistan’s flood-hit Balochistan province. The EU has been funding humanitarian aid operations in Pakistan since 2016.
