As it became known from GEETHA, at 2 am on Saturday, a Turkish UAV entered the Athens FIR without filing a flight plan, violated the national airspace, and then flew over Levitha, northeast of Amorgos, at 19,000 legs.
At 9:24 am, a second Turkish UAV entered the Athens FIR without filing a flight plan, violated national airspace and then flew over Kandeliosa Nisyrou at 29,000 feet.
At 11:01 in the morning, a Turkish UAV entered the Athens FIR without filing a flight plan, violated national airspace, and then flew again, over Kandeliosa Nisyrou, at 19,000 feet.
Turkish UAVs were identified and intercepted according to international rules as a matter of routine.
It is noted that Levitha is included in the Natura 2000 Network along with northern Amorgos and the island of Kinaro. It is also one of the important areas for the protection of birds and has been included in the actions for the protection of the black petrel and the egret.
