“The Greek people must know the whole truth about the surveillance of Androulakis and Koukakis, about who is being monitored by the Mitsotakis regime and for what reasons,” says the secretary of SYRIZA-PS
In an interview with “Avgi tis Kyriaki”, the secretary of SYRIZA-PS, Rania Svigou, speaks about the Greek Watergate which has the signature and name of K. Mitsotakis and adds that “every attempt to cover it up will fall flat. Everything will come to light.”
Referring to the surveillance case, she says: “As long as the Mitsotakis regime lasts, we are all potential suspects. The reaction against this unprecedented deviation is the duty of every democratic citizen, regardless of his political affiliation.
Generalizing, Ms. Svigou states: “What society and the country need is to appeal to the popular verdict, and not behind the scenes solutions, so that the popular will is not expressed”, and adds: “Only a progressive government, with the prime minister Alexis Tsipras, can restore institutions and legitimacy”. Finally, he underlines: “Tackling the multifaceted economic, energy crisis and the accuracy crisis will have a central role in the SYRIZA-PS government program.”
In a question about the presence of the Prime Minister in the Parliament, he states: “K. Mitsotakis did not answer any of the questions raised by Alexis Tsipras. He hid behind some alleged reasons of “national security”, in order not to answer about the reasons for the surveillance of N. Androulakis. He did not say a word about the surveillance of the journalist Th. Koukakis, nor about when he was informed about the surveillance of Androulakis, nor about how many and who are being monitored, during his administration. It was a speech of mud and fake news, which were refuted, in fact, after a few minutes, as well as a failed attempt to offset, based on the logic of “everyone is the same”, or “this happens elsewhere too”.
As for the stance that SYRIZA will take, he said: “SYRIZA-PS will use every appropriate political and parliamentary means. There should be no procrastination, and no attempt at so-called netting. The Greek people must know the whole truth about the surveillance of Androulakis and Koukakis, about who is being monitored by the Mitsotakis regime and for what reasons. And he will learn it. It is necessary for democracy and for the country. In this direction, article 87 of Law 4790/21, which prohibited the notification of declassification by the EYP for reasons of “national security”, should be immediately repealed.
In addition, in addition to the commission of inquiry that will be set up by this parliament, SYRIZA-PS has already committed to the implementation of a preliminary commission of inquiry by the next Parliament, which will have a progressive majority, in order to hold those responsible accountable to the judiciary and to restore the functioning and prestige of democratic institutions”. To a question about how he comments on the scenarios of replacing K. Mitsotakis with a “Greek Draghi” he answers: “What society and the country need is the appeal to the popular verdict, and not behind the scenes solutions, so that the popular will is not expressed … Only a progressive government, with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, based on a solid programmatic agreement, can restore institutions and legitimacy, and take a series of urgent measures to deal with the crisis, to relieve households and the vast majority of citizens”.
